Making us feel down, unworthy, that we are getting worse, comparing to others, frustration etc. This can ruin your session and those that you're climbing with. This session shares the tips and tricks of professional climber and coach Alex Puccio. Alex wo...

I bet you didn't know this about footwork for climbing!

I bet you didn't know this about footwork for climbing!
The efficient method requires you to already have a lot of hand strength and yoga-like flexibility. Not for beginners.
Actually, this is so that you do not require a lot of finger strength. It is to keep your weight on your feet and off your hands/feet.
Ours is a 40 degree static moonboard. Can't even do the easiest climbs on it but I will keep giving it a go with these tips! Thanks for the video.
That’s dope Alex. When your 8/9 months you should hangboard with the extra weight and keep your fingers solid
Probably just use the extra baby weight! 😆 things are getting harder, but managed an 18 sec 1 arm hang yday
Brilliant
Great to hear, thank you so much!
@@roapcoaching917 more like this please 😃
Do you have a video on how to train your feet or leg workouts?
We have videos on footwork, but not training leg strength. Of course, we do make sure our clients train legs though ;)
Brilliant, guys! Really clear, concrete ideas for technical mastery, training and overload. Alex’s demos are so detailed it’s as if we’re right there! Thank you 🙏🏻
Wow, thank you so much, we really appreciate it! Many more tech videos coming your way soon (and uploaded too)

🙌
Wow, congrats guys! 🤜
Thank you so much! 🙏
,
those shoulders are the reason I wanna start😄😄
Hahaha
i wish climbers and coaches would adopt the concepts of muscular irradiation. put short-the more muscles you can contract the more force you can exert.
The process of recruitment.
These are solid tips! Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much, we appreciate it 😊
Phenomenal to have access to give-away coaching from an athlete of Alex's pedigree. This is brilliant, thank you!
Awww, thank you! Lots to share over the last 20 years of being a professional 🫢
But why does Alex have such well-developed biceps if we're supposed to use our legs and hips more?
Haha, for when I do need them! 😉
2:33 peso pluma on the background music? hahaha Greetings from Mexico!
You got it!!! 🎶 👂 👍
Kai's flow is outrageous. He's definitely got that sport climber efficiency baked into his movement, so nice to watch.
Completely agree! We’ll be doing an episode with Kai in a week or two. Super excited to share his story, climbing style, flow and training session.
It's astonishing to watch someone so tall bouldering like Romain Desgranges would do on a lead climb.
1:47 You have a finger and a little baby inside? There's a lot going on 😅
Haha, gulp!!!
Are there types of routes or cases where you won't be getting anything back from resting/relaxing?
Comp routes which get progressively harder and you have a 6min limit. Also, specific routes whereby it’s better to keep going and climb through a sustained crux. But the basic rule is, if you can get something back, try to. Always applying efficiency rules is also important, but so is that regeneration (getting energy back) is a trained aspect!
@@roapcoaching917 Great, thanks!
Congratulations! That's great news! 😊 I was wondering if this would come up soon... As for content, I prefer the coaching that you did in the other videos, but it's great to see you banter with friends.
Appreciate it and the feedback! Yes, back to coaching again soon :)
Such a good news! Congrats Alex and Robin 😊
Awww, thank you so much!
Cool to see Alex with her own channel. Subscribed right away. Happy late birthday, too.
Awww, thank you 😊 Glad to have you onboard! More vids on the way!
Allison stomping around killed me 🤣
😆 🤣 bahaha! So funny!
more fun!!🚀 congratulatons ☀☀
Thank you! 😀 Looking forward to being out climbed by the little one soon!
so she is basically climbing while carrying another person at the same time
Weight training ;)
Congratulations! 🎉🎉
Thank you!!! 🙏
CONGRATULATIONS! Best wishes on your exciting new adventure. Beware of those kitchen drawers around 8 months, both you and the drawer stick out further than you think. 😁
Hahahaha! Great advice! 😆
lol holy shit tho, how did she scrape that bad?!!
It reopened a scooter crash scab!
Congratulations 🎉
Thank you!!
Congratulations!
Thank you so much
Any tips? I was at the fair doing on of the rigged ones but I’ve never don’t rockclimbing so I did it and I got halfway up and nothing was hurting and I had sore muscles that day from sports but basically they flipped the rocks so you wouldn’t have grip at all how would I grip onto that? I just gave up though because I’ve never fell from a harness so I was scared to slip but I just let go
I.e. the holds were pointing upside down? These are called underclings and require higher feet so your arms are straight down.
As a 6'3" climber, it's such a joy and inspiration to watch Kai climb
I know, he's an incredible climber and arguably the best in the world for his height/weight. Such intuitive and intelligent climbing
Hi ROAP! I’ve been learning so much from your instructional videos, thank you so much for sharing such high quality content! Could you make a video on pulling with feet on steeper terrain? I don’t think it’s talked about enough and it still eludes me, it would be so eye opening if you could go over it! Thanks 🙏🏼
Thank you so much and what a great recommendation - we can absolutely do one on that. Have you seen our video on pressure through the feet? (One of the early ones) Could help a lot too.
What metrics do you track and analyse specifically with the coros watch?
Good question...many more are coming, but ultimately feet, attempts, HR, time. We are currently watching blood o2 in relation to HR to see if we can understand more about lactate thresholds - so the HR is more relevant like it would be in running or using larger muscle groups.
Congratulations to you both! And hope the finger heals! ❤
Appreciate it! Synovitis in on the middle and a bone growth in the DIP on the pinky - unfortunate, but working with Paul Houghoughi - best climbing Physio in the world.
Congratulations! 🎉 Also really like this type of video 😊
Thank you so much, it means a lot (on both fronts)!
Congratulations you two! Loved the more lighthearted video
Ahhh, that’s great news, good to hear! And thank you so much!!

Haha, that’s what Robin says too!
Davis "Sponsor me" Ngo :)
That's the one!
14:40 that climb was honestly kind of impressive
Genuinely was! To climb a V8 with that poor footwork!! Strong fingers!
oh wow, Alex, happy for you! If you are still climbing, does it mean your baby will have 5 months of bouldering experience upon his birthday? :DDD
Hahaha! She's going to come out with 9 months experience!
Congratulations Alex na Robin 🎉🎉🎉. It is charming how the whole team is taking care of Alex and the Baby 😊
Awww, thank you! Yes, very happy to see such support. Thanks to you too!
thnk yo vrymuch, it's a perfect video, and I would like to ask what is the name of the countdown app?
It’s the Tindeq Progressor! Such a good app and force plate! Highly recommend
